After a woeful appearance at the boxing event at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, chieftains in Ghana, have taken steps to reverse the situation.
A new look Black Bombers team under new technical direction will begin non-residential camping at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday in preparations for future assignments.
A friendly fight tournament against a USA select side have been planned to be staged in Accra in October as well as other international assignments.
This will include the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers next year plus other high profile tournaments.
Boxers selected for the non-residential camping from various boxing gyms in the country are; Ebenezer Ankrah — Black Panthers Boxing Club, Mathias Ashitey — Black Panthers Boxing Club and
Ibrahim Doku — Black Panthers Boxing Club.
Others are, Joseph Commey — Black Panthers Boxing Club,
Abdul Wahid Omar — Wisdom Boxing Club, James Okoe — Wisdom Boxing Club and Joseph Antwi — Wisdom Boxing Club.
The rest are Amadu Mohammed — SeaView Boxing Club, Daniel Nii Amu — SeaView Boxing Club, Zakari Kamoko — SeaView Boxing Club and Desmond Pappoe — James Town Boxing Club.
Others are, Yekeen Abdul Khalid — FitSquare Boxing Gym, Isaac Kwabena Esiedu — Charles Quarteyn Boxing Foundation, Jibril Muntari — Charles Quarteyn Boxing Foundation and George Nii Nortey Dowuona — Will Power Boxing Gym.
Also making the list are, Mubarak Armah — Seconds Out Boxing Gym, Dennis Dugebenu — Seconds Out Boxing Gym, Solomon Budu Sackey — Akotoku Academy,
Benjamin Ni Saka Bulley — Attoh Quarshie Boxing Gym and Henry Malm — Square View Boxing Gym.
The new look national boxing team, will be taken through their paces by a newly constituted technical staff headed by Vincent Akai Nettey and Charles Quartey.
They will be assisted by Elvis Robertson, Ben Tetteh, Ebenezer Ofoli Quaye and Sulleyman Martey Korley.
