Vision FC have set the early pace in the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League (GPL) campaign with an emphatic 3-0 victory on Saturday as the season got underway.
They scored in each half to record this win on home soil as they hosted a helpless Young Apostles side to the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex, Tema.
This was a game the home side completely dominated, and, could have won by a higher margin but for their wastefulness in front of goal.
Naziru Alhassan Nyenye, opened the scoring in the fourth minute to set the tone for what would be their first three points of the season.
The early goal, set the pace for what is to come as Vision FC dictated the flow of the game.
Their efforts paid off later in the half as they doubled their lead in the 40th minute when Setsofia Aqetey scored the first of his two goals on the day.
Vision FC ended the first half two goals to the good to ease their nerves ahead of the second stanza of the game.
Last season, the two clubs played out a goalless drawn game in this fixture, but the home side were not in any mood to drop points in front of their fans for the second season running.
They put the game to bed in the 68th minute when Aqetey struck again to confirm the three for Vision FC.
That goal, left Young Apostles with a huge mountain to climb, needing 18 minutes to try and force a draw from three goals down.
It was never going to happen as Vision FC controlled affairs to win the game and let down an early maker for the rest of the competition.
They will look to build on this performance going into their subsequent games as they look to avoid the troubles of last season that nearly saw them relegated.
Defeat, means back to the drawing board for Young Apostles who, on the basis of this performance, have a huge task on hand if they are not to be drawn in a relegation struggle.
