Kaysports honours legendary Ghanaian athlete KOORA

Kaysports has extended its goodwill gesture and appreciation to Ghanaian sports icons by honouring legendary athlete Emmanuel Tuffour, popularly known as KOORA in Ghanaian sporting circles.

Born on December 2, 1966, KOORA showed early promise and rose through the ranks to become one of Ghana’s finest sprinters.

Kaysports, through its CEO Kwame Owusu-Ameyaw, recognised his achievements on the track, both for his personal success and for winning numerous laurels for Ghana.IMG-20260324-WA0093

At the recently held Ashanti Regional Schools and Colleges Athletics Super Zonals in Kumasi, Mr. Owusu-Ameyaw presented a specially branded Kaysports jersey to KOORA in recognition of his role in projecting Ghana onto the global stage.

Among his many achievements, KOORA finished seventh in the 100m men’s final at the World Athletics Championships in 1993 in Tokyo, Japan.

He also won silver in the 200m race at the African Athletics Championships in 1988 in Annaba, Algeria.

At the same championship, he helped Ghana secure silver in the 4x100m relay.

Later, at the 1992 African Athletics Championships in Belle Vue Harel, Mauritius, KOORA also won silver in the 200m men’s race.IMG-20260324-WA0094

Now retired, his personal best times remain 10.07 seconds in the 100m (set in 1994) and 20.15 seconds in the 200m (set in 1995).

Currently, KOORA serves as one of Ghana’s national athletics coaches, helping to develop the next breed of future champions.

These achievements have not gone unnoticed by Kaysports, which continues to recognise and reward outstanding sportsmen and women for their contributions to elevating Ghana on the world stage.
