President of the Ghana Olympic Committee Richard Akpokavie has charged the newly elected executives of the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) to work in unity for the greater glory of the sport in the country.
Mr Akpokavie, hailed the GTF for organizing a peaceful elections on Saturday that elected new executives to run the body for the next four years.
In a statement after the elections, he called on the new executives to work together with those who lost to have a united front.
The Federation members he added, should come together and focus on the development and promotion of the sport in Ghana.
He expressed that the Federation must ensure that Ghana is well represented in Taekwondo at the 2028 Olympics and help promote Henritta Armah who is on an Olympic solidarity scholarship in Germany to that level.
Incumbent President of the Federation, Frederick Lartey Otu retained his position after pulling 16 votes to defeat Charles Tsibo Cromwell who had 11 votes.
Maxwell Theodore Alornyo was elected the new Vice President, with Simon Koku Gluikpor and Kankpenuba Peter Nuntaa Wisdom, elected as new executive members.
