Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey joins English Championship side Queens Park Rangers on a free transfer

Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey has secured a move to English Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) ahead of the upcoming season.

The Ghanaian defender has endured a difficult spell after suffering an ACL injury at Fiorentina, but a new chapter now awaits him in  England.

The 25-year-old  joins QPR on a free transfer following the termination of his contract with the Italian club.

His move to Loftus Road offers him a fresh start after months of uncertainty and frustration.

Lamptey, who rose through Chelsea’s academy before making his name at Brighton, will hope to rediscover the speed, confidence and excitement that once made him one of the Premier League’s most promising full-backs.

His first words said everything about the player QPR are getting:

“I’m a player who doesn’t shy away from tackles; I love one-on-one situations, both defensively and offensively.”

Lamptey, missed out on Ghana's selection for the just ended FIFA World Cup in North America after failing to recover in time from that ACL injury.
