Former Black Stars captain and Africa's leading goalscorer at the FIFA World Cup, Asamoah Gyan has praised WBO Africa and IBF Africa Featherweight Champion, John Abaja Laryea for his commitment and discipline.
Gyan who is an Ambassador for the Ghana national football teams, visited the Bronx Boxing Gym at Jamestown in Accra on Tuesday to watch the training of Laryea as he prepares for his upcoming fight against Argentine boxer, Adrian Robledo Maximiliano on August 15. 2025.
The upcoming bout is a WBA title eliminator and very important in the boxing career of Laryea aka 'Expensive Boxer'.
Victory will get him a shot at the world title and, that is what the Ghanaian pugilist is hoping for.
According to Asamoah Gyan, he loves Laryea because he obeys instructions and implements it.
He also hailed Laryea for his dedication and hoped that he will go higher to realise his dreams of becoming a world boxing champion.
Laryea trains under Coach Carl Lokko with other boxers.
Gyan was accompanied by his senior brother Baffour and manager, Samuel Anim Addo who is the CEO of Bronx Boxing Promotions.
