Medeama SC, Nations FC faces crucial duels in CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions this weekend

Ghana champions Medeama SC and FA Cup winners Nations FC go into continental action this weekend as they take separate paths towards glory in African football.

Medeama SC will host DR Congo giants TP Mazembe in the CAF Champions League on Sunday as they aim to make it to the group phase of the competition.

This first leg preliminary round encounter, will be played at the TnA Stadium, Tarkwa this weekend.

Nations FC travels to Mali to confront FC Diarra in the CAF Confederation Cup competition this Saturday.

This preliminary round first leg contest comes off the the national stadium in Bamako as action in the two African club competitions starts this weekend.

The two Ghanaian clubs will look to take positive first leg results into the return fixtures next weekend.

Both will hope to advance to the group phase of their respective competitions to bring a phase lift to Ghana football on the continent.

For Medeama SC, it's the first time in the clubs history that they will be playing continental football in front of their home fans at Tarkwa.

The mining township is expected to be turned into a frenzy on Sunday as former African champions TP Mazembe comes to town.

Medeama SC will look to make the most of this opportunity as they go in search of a win that will make the return fixture in DR Congo a less difficult assignment.

Nations FC will be competing in African club football for the first time in the club's history this weekend.

They have no competitive experience on the continental scene but, with the quality in their squad, they should be able to negotiate their way through before hosting the second leg encounter in Ghana.
