Eric Agyekum breaks long-standing German 400mH national record

Emil Agyekum ran a personal best in the men's 400mH to break the German national record at the London Diamond League meet on Saturday.

Agyekum of Ghanaian heritage, stormed to a second place finish with a time of 47.45s breaking the long-standing German Record of 47.48s.

That record, was set by World and Olympic medallist Harry Schmid in 1982.

The mark had stood for 44 years, but, it now belongs to Agyekum who will look to preserve it and possibly break it with more meets to come going forward.

The 400mH race at the London meet, was won by Karsten Warholm of Norway with a world leading time of 46.61s with Qatari Abderrahman Samba in third position.
