Asante Kotoko returns to winning ways with first ever league win over Nations FC

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways on Sunday after a comprehensive 3-0 win over Nations FC at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi.

Goals by Albert Amoah, Samba O'niel and Morifing Donzo, handed the three points to the Porcupines in this Ghana Premier League (GPL) Matchday 26 fixture.

The win was the first ever Asante Kotoko have posted over Nations FC in the league.

It comes as a relief for the Porcupines after their recent setbacks in the league that saw them drop off pace in the race to win this season's championship.

Asante Kotoko are now third on the table with 42 points, six points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars with eight matches to end the season.

They will look to build on this for the reminder of the campaign as they seek to win the diadem.

Nations FC are 12th with 34 points after losing for the first time in five matches in all competitions.

In other matches played on Sunday, reigning champions Gold Stars moved to the summit of the table with a 1-0 home win over Vision FC at the Dun's Park, Bibiani.

They leapfrog Medeama SC with 48 points, after the Mauve and Yellow lost 2-1 to Dreams FC at the Tuba Astro Turf, Kasoa.

Medeama SC remain on 46 points, and are now winless in their last six league matches.

Dreams FC are on 34 points and in ninth position as they move to safety.

Bechem United also moved to safety with a hard-fought 2-1 home win over Aduana FC at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.

The Hunters have 33 points in 13th position, three points above the relegation zone.

Aduana FC are now fifth with 41 points after falling at Bechem.

Berekum Chelsea scored an important 2-0 home win over Karela United at the Golden City Park, Berekum.

They have 31 points and in 15th position, just above the drop zone with Karela United in seventh position with 38 points.

Basake Holy Stars beat Young Apostles 1-0 at home to move eight on the table with 36 points leaving Apostles in  the relegation zone with 30 points.

All Blacks also moved out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 home win over Hohoe United at the Swedru Sports Stadium to leave the visitors in the drop zone.
