Preparations for the 2026 Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon are all but concluded with the event set to come off next month.
The planning process is in the final stages with the organizers expecting a large turnout as the mass event in the Ghanaian capital.
Racing Director William Ezah said he expects the fourth edition of the event to be the most successful yet with everyone participant in this year's edition set to receive a medal and a digital certificate.
"We are mopping up for the big showdown next month," Mr Ezah said, adding that it will be a memorable day for all to savour.
The registration process for the day, has been overwhelming he stated, with athletes that have ai far registered coming from all over Ghana.
Vets for the race will arrive in Ghana on September 20 from New York, USA with 1,500 medals already available for the race.
The Accra Inter-City Marathon is headlined by beverage giants Tampico with this year's event set to come off on Saturday, October 10 in Accra.
Participants can dial *320*21# and pay a registration fee of GH¢100 to register for the 21-kilometer and 5-kilometer races.
The Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon is an initiative of Medivents Consult Ghana, and, was established in 2022 with the race attracting over 2000 athletes each year.
Two races will be run, 5km and 21km – starting and ending at the Trust Sports Emporium (Bukom Boxing Arena) and the winner of the main race will get the opportunity to run at an international marathon event.
The 4th Tampico Accra Inter-City Marathon is supported by the National Sports Authority (NSA), Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Ghana Athletics (GA), MYST Water, MAPHLIX, GWO SEVO, SOCCA BOX, Ethiopian Airways, Capelli Sport and Zimansky Hotel.
