Sunday special in the Ghana Premier League as Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC and Gold Stars face must win games

Sunday's action in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) sees Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC and Bibiani Gold Stars face crucial battles in the race to win the competition.

There are nine matches left in this season's campaign including today's matches with just seven points separating the top five teams on the table.

Medeama SC leads the standing with 46 points, one point ahead of reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars with Asante Kotoko down in fifth position with 39 points.

The Porcupines will host Nations FC at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi in a local derby as they look to bring their campaign back on track.

Asante Kotoko have never beaten Nations FC in a league game since they joined the Ghanaian top-flight and, they will look to end that drought.

Nations FC have been in fine form lately, and, they will not be easy pushovers for Asante Kotoko.

Leaders Medeama SC also face a difficult assignment on Sunday afternoon when they trek to the Tuba Astro Turf, Kasoa to play Dreams FC.

The Mauve and Yellow are winless in their last five league games, and have seen their once healthy lead on top of the stairs whittle down to one point.

Pressure is mounting on them in their quest to win the title, and, Dreams FC will not make things easy for them in this fixture.

Dreams FC have had the better of the exchanges in games between the two sides when they are playing at home in recent times.

Gold Stars will host Vision FC at the Dun's Park, Bibiani as they continue with the defence of the title they won last season.

The Miners will fancy their chances of winning this encounter knowing they will move top of the stairs if Medeama SC drop points at Kasoa.

In other GPL Matchday 26 fixtures coming up on Sunday, Karela United will trek to Berekum to play Chelsea at the Golden City Park.

Basake Holy Stars will look to stay clear out of trouble when they host Young Apostles at the AAK II Sports Arena.

A relegation battle will be in store for fans in Swedru when All Blacks hosts Hohoe United at the Swedru Sports Stadium.

Aduana FC will be away to Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Bechem in another tough game to savour.
